VMHS Recognizes September World Language Student of the Month

Congratulations to 10th-grader Tyler Yeung for being named Valhalla Middle/High School’s “World Language Student of the Month” for September.

The World Language Department announced a new Student of the Month, highlighting dedication to learning a new language.

Valhalla Middle/High School’s World Language teachers spotlight students for their hard work over the past month. Tenth-grader Tyler Yeung was recognized as September’s honoree – the first of the 2019-20 academic year.

Notes on Tyler:

“He demonstrates a genuine commitment to improving his Spanish skills. This is evident by his consistent participation throughout activities and positive relationships with classmates. He makes a conscious effort to communicate in the target language. Passionate for languages, he also is currently teaching himself German via an online program.”

The World Language Department’s “Student of the Month” awards are given to one student in 6th to 12th grade each month. The criteria is based on participation, grades, attempts to speak the target language, requesting help and a general positive attitude toward learning the language. The Students of the Month are selected by the entire World Language Department: Richard O’Riley, Lisa DeBiase, Stephanie Albanese, Roxanne Franquelli-Beras, Julie Gencarelli and Maria Delaney.

Congratulations to our September honoree.
